page design is obviously a WIP, though i plan to keep things to simpler HTML even when compared to the already simple HTML index page.

i am a very forgetful person. i always have been, for as long as i can remember (which isn't very long at all, unsurprisingly). so while it was a bit surprising to find me getting into cataloguing things once i began cataloguing things back in late 2024(i am also innately incredibly lazy!, at the very least it made a weird sort of sense. after beginning my diary, i was introduced to backloggd, which was my first real foray into cataloguing sites, though i initially found it appealing moreso thanks to its reviews (i had begun using albumoftheyear in 2023 for this exact reason). still, it's not inaccurate to say it opened the floodgates for me, since a letterboxd account followed soon after (in spite of my lack of interest in movies), alongside now-abandoned accounts on goodreads, discogs, and serializd.

while backloggd was my first real foray into catalouging sites, i had at this point dipped my toes in them before thanks to my initial interest in sites akin to AOTY; by this point, i already had both a myanimelist and an anilist account, courtesy of what was at that point a very on/off relationship with anime. by this point, both of these accounts were abandoned, as while i liked having documents of the things i'd watched up to that point, their reviews were... lacking, thanks to myanimelist's incredibly dull insistence on obectivity and abject demands of """quality""" within its reviews, and anilist's baffling 2500 minimum character limit for its reviews. still, 2025 was the year where i properly began a more persistent fixation on anime and manga, and frustration with my own inability to actually remember what i had and hadn't watched up to this point led me to revisit MAL and anilist, though i primarily ended up focusing on MAL due to minute preferences towards its general layout.

however, while i am still content to use MAL, that never really meant my grievances with its handling of reviews (among other problems, like how it handles rewatched shows among others) disappeared. my new animanga fixation was spurred on thanks to a longtime friend of mine's own proper discovery of his love for animanga, and taking cues from his twitter use, i began a thread, wanting to try the bitesized reviews the website requires alongside keep a more understandable timeline of sorts. this... did not pan out well, primarily because of said necessitated bitesized reviews. so, this is basically just me going "fuck it" and deciding to Do Whatever I Want Forever, while also compiling the timeline idea into a format that as time passes will most likely become much less convoluted and much easier to navigate thanks to the existance of ctrl+f.

in an attempt to facilitate this transition, the earlier parts of this thread will be pretty much just direct transcripts of their twitter counterparts, whereas the later parts will probably be more fleshed out (though not always; Do Whatever I Want Forever is the hard rule here.)

also, expect spoilers for pretty much every single entry in here. entries with an asterisk are just directly taken from the thread, others are either expanded or just brand new.

2025

while my animanga fixation began as soon as 2025 did, the original twitter thread itself didn't actually start until october. i did however make animebingo recaps for both the anime and the manga i'd watched up to that point.
